How we evaluate your hooks

A hook passes when it contains a clear psychological trigger — something that creates involuntary friction for a stranger scrolling with no context. Here's what we look for.

Contrarian / Myth-Busting
Challenges something the viewer believes is true. The brain can't scroll past it.
"Your doctor has been wrong about cholesterol this whole time."
Identity Call-Out
Names a specific condition so precisely that the right viewer feels personally called out.
"If you wake up at 3am every night, stop ignoring it."
Confession / Prior Skepticism
Speaker admits they were wrong or skeptical. Viewers identify with the doubt, then need to know what changed.
"I spent two years telling people this was a scam. I was wrong."
Curiosity Gap
Opens a loop the viewer needs to close — but only when the stakes feel real and personal.
"One mistake in your morning routine is aging you ten years."
Loss Aversion / Warning
Implies the viewer is at risk of losing something or making a costly mistake right now.
"You're paying twice what you should for your car insurance."
Visceral / Taboo
References bodily discomfort or social embarrassment. These triggers can't be ignored.
"Nobody told me deodorant was supposed to go on at night."
Pattern Interrupt / Mid-Scene Drop
Drops the viewer into a moment already in progress. No intro — you're mid-conversation and need to catch up.
"Wait — so you're telling me you've been doing it wrong this whole time?"
